What is a birth journey?

While at the osteopath having a general post-baby tune-up, my therapist and I started discussing birth. We both agreed, having both had miscarriages, infertility issues and children, that pregnancy, birth and babies were a journey. It was one we both thought was an amazing journey but fully of up’s, down’s and everything in between.

Being pregnant. It’s such a wonderful time in not just the lucky woman in questions life, but for everyone. There’s something about the beauty and amazing-ness of creating and supporting new life to grow that still gives me goosebumps. Being around a woman who is pregnant reminds us that we were someone’s baby once and that the circle of life is a part of all of us. However, sometimes we either forget, don’t know or haven’t been around someone who is pregnant for a long time. This article is dedicated to you. How can I build my ‘baby confidence’?

Imagine if you could have all the confidence you get from surviving the most incredible, life changing event in your life before the event happened?

What if you never had to deal with adversity to find your inner strength?  What if you could do so while you were safe and cosy in current life? What if you didn’t have to have a life altering experience to find your true potential but had the strength to do so before your life got out of control?

How can birth coaching help when it starts to go wrong?

You’ve done your hypnobirthing sessions
You’ve packed your birth bag
You’ve had your first cuddle

And then it all starts to fall apart…

As a society, we have now started to wake up to the idea that the more you put into birth the more you get out. It’s clear from the amount of prenatal services you can buy – hypnobirthing, pregnancy yoga and pregnancy reiki all aim to empower and provide support to expectant parents. In my opinion this has transformed the birth experience for many women for the better and long may it continue.
